Customizing Your Book: Fonts, Photos, and Page Artwork

Personalize your book with 7 font styles, a custom cover title, and the option to replace AI-generated illustrations with your own real photos or artwork.

Customizing Your Book

Once Upon a Memory gives you a few easy ways to personalize your book.

You can:

  • choose from 7 font styles for your book

  • use a different font on the cover title

  • upload your own real photos or illustrations to replace generated page art

Change the font in your book

You can change the font used throughout your book at any time.

To do this:

  1. Open your book in the app.

  2. Click Options with the three dots in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Change Font.

  4. Choose the font style you want.

You can choose from these 7 font styles:

  • Handwriting

  • Modern Serif

  • Olde Print

  • Professional

  • Easy Read

  • Cursive

  • Butterfly

When you change the font here, it applies to the entire book.

Can I use a different font on the cover?

Yes. While the font you choose from Change Font applies to the whole book, you can edit the cover title separately and give it a different font if you’d like.

This is a great way to keep the inside pages easy to read while giving the cover a more custom look.

Can I use my own real photos instead of the generated illustrations?

Yes — absolutely.

You can upload your own real photos and use them instead of the AI-generated illustrations.

You can also upload your own illustrations or artwork if you prefer.

This means you are not limited to generated images. If you want a page to show a real family photo, a scanned drawing, or another custom image, you can replace the generated illustration with your own file.

How to replace a generated illustration with your own image

To replace the current page illustration with your own photo or artwork:

  1. Open the page you want to update.

  2. Click the Edit tool in the bottom-right corner.

  3. Select Replace.

  4. Upload your image in PNG or JPG format.

  5. Use the crop editor to crop and position the image so it fits the page.

  6. Save your changes.

Once saved, your uploaded image will replace the current generated illustration on that page.

What kinds of images can I upload?

You can upload:

  • a real photo

  • a digital illustration

  • a scanned drawing

  • other custom artwork

Supported file types:

  • PNG

  • JPG

Why do I see a crop editor?

After you upload an image through Replace, the app opens a crop editor so you can fit the image properly to the page.

This helps you:

  • frame the image the way you want

  • avoid cutting off important faces or details

  • make sure the page looks polished in the final book

When should I use Replace?

Use Replace when you want to use your own image file on the page.

This is the best option when:

  • you want to use a real photograph

  • you want to use your own illustration

  • you do not want that page to use the generated artwork anymore

Use Edit when you want the AI to make a small change to the current illustration.

Use Regenerate when you want the AI to create a completely new illustration from scratch.

Tips for best results

  • Use a clear, high-quality image when possible.

  • Leave a little space around faces or important details, since the image will need to be cropped to fit the page.

  • If you are uploading artwork, make sure the main subject is centered the way you want it to appear.

  • If you want a custom cover look, choose one font for the inside pages and style the cover title separately.
